Recently, while late-night ice cream hunting, I came across the Talenti gelato and sorbetto section. I had seen the little pints and their striking design before, but had never tried any. Now that I have, I'm really inspired to learn how to make proper gelato and have been researching the basic ratios for it and the details of how it differs from ice cream. In the meantime, here are my notes:

Now that I have, I'm really inspired to learn how to make proper gelato and have been researching the basic ratios for it and the details of how it differs from ice cream. In the meantime, here are my notes:
Caramel Cookie Crunch Gelato: the best, most surprising flavor of all; vanilla swirled with caramel and crunchy chocolate cookies.
Mediterannean Mint Gelato: tastes just like real live mint from the garden -- and colored green with alfalfa sprout extract!
Sea Salt Caramel Gelato: fleur de sel and chocolate-carmel truffles are in it; a little on the too-sweet side overall.
Toasted Almond Gelato: tiny bits of almond in a vanilla base that's like snow cream.
Raspberry Sorbetto: zero fat and super-concentrated berry flavor; good with chocolate syrup.

All in all, this company uses good ingredients and knows gelato well. I am looking forward to trying more Talenti flavors this summer. It runs about $4.99 at Whole Foods, Target, and Kroger here in Memphis, and it's so rich that you'll get about 4 servings per pint.

I absolutely love talenti! The sea salt caramel gelato is my very favorite.
Ice cream it is! Molly Moon's in Seattle or Graeter's from my hometown, Cincinnati.
I remember getting rainbow sherbert at the BR in gtown as a kid. I even spilled my cone once and they gave me a free replacement. French vanilla at TCBYs was also a fav of mine-so rich and creamy!
These days, I flavor chocolate but my absolute favorite is a seasonal ine --pink peppermint ice cream available during the winter holidays!
Gelato is great- but I have never been able to pick a favorite cold treat! Some days I need a thick coffee milkshake, and others a mint chocolate chip ice cream in a cone hits the spot.
My favorite icy treat as a child were otter pops. Now I would have to say anything cold, creamy, and chocolate! I have never had Talenti but would love to try some. I am moving to Arizona this Saturday and I think I will be in need of something cold :-)
Just watching Audrey Hepburn scarfing down a gelato with Gregory Peck in "Roman Holiday" is enough to make you crave the stuff.
I love cake batter or peanut butter/chocolate anything... I am addicted to Ben and Jerry's oatmeal cookie chunk and I also just had some amazing biscotti gelato in airport, although that sea salt caramel gelato sounds like a whole new level.
As a kid my favorite frozen treat was vanilla ice cream dipped in strawberry coating. Add a waffle cone and I was a happy camper.
This is fun! My favorite icy treat as an adult is a homemade banana smoothie. I make mine with 1 ripe banana, a few spoons of plain greek yogurt, a splash of unsweetened soy milk, a teaspoon of mexican vanilla, ground cinnamon and ice cubes in the blender.
As a child my favorite icy treat was the red, white and blue. Yes, I mean the "Bomb Pop".
Sea Salt Caramel Gelatto... The stuff Angels are mage out off.
from LSL: Yay, thanks! Because I love Talenti. But my favorite treat is a real strawberry milkshake.
